Do you know any families who have absolutely no issues or problems? If we could all be transparent for just a moment in time, we would probably have to admit that ALL of us have at one time or another experienced crisis and even trauma within our family units. There may have even been moments when we were pretty certain God, if He existed at all, was nowhere near our family.

Of course, that is indeed a huge lie. God is ever-present, His love never fails, and He created each and every one of us to live from joy no matter how difficult the situation might be.

“Now that’s a pretty tall order, Jane”…you might be thinking, especially if you are hurting or struggling to overcome a wound from the past that continues to exist in the present.

In seasons when pain and fear take on monster roles in my thoughts, I have had to learn difficult lessons. One most recent lesson has actually reached back into early childhood and corrected a traumatic memory. Through the healing process called “Immanuel Healing” a lie that “I am alone”, has been replaced with the truth, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Straight from the heart of God to my little girl’s soul.

The process called “Immanuel Healing” is one of the many tools from The Life Model’s study book called “Living from the Heart Jesus Gave You”. Since incorporating the many resources of The Life Model at Mission Missouri, we have discovered a “unifying approach to ministries of counseling, recovery, pastoral care, prayer ministry, deliverance, inner healing, child rearing, body life, and health.” The Life Model is a “multigenerational model of redemption and maturity,” used in recovery ministries, treatment centers, and churches.

Mission Missouri’s Esther House welcomes women in need of, not only recovery but ultimate wholeness. Truthfully, aren’t we all on this same journey? Another one of the redemptive concepts from The Life Model is that God will ordain people in our lives as the caring individuals who “spiritually adopt” us, assisting in the repair of wounds of the past. In the end, it is about God’s love being activated in our lives and healing every painful experience.

I came across a verse this week that warms my heart, especially in light of working with two groups of individuals who are going through “Living from the Heart…”

“Psalm 68:5-6 “A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in His holy dwelling. God sets the lonely in families, he leads out the prisoners with singing….”(NIV)

The Message Bible puts it this way in verse 6….”God makes homes for the homeless, leads prisoners to freedom…”

Do you feel alone, somewhere in the depth of your heart? Have you believed the lie that you are alone, even if you have had family and friends around you, but especially if you did not have those people in your life?  Maybe it’s time to consider what lie you have believed and from whence it came. Maybe it’s time to get out of the prison in which you have been held captive.

myjourneyuntilnow…..I’m deeply grateful to be learning the joy of “Immanuel Healing”. Nothing is more beautiful than “living from the heart Jesus gave me”. It’s as if the curtain is being pulled back…..I can hardly wait…..”what’s behind Curtain #3?”
